Transport work orders
The Work Orders page lists the work orders you haul as a transporter. A work order is one container or load that the company you work with moves for its customer, for example from the port to a warehouse. You see the work orders where an entity you are linked to, usually the transport company you work for, is the transporter or the return transporter.
To open it, select Work Orders in the portal menu, or the Open Work Orders box on the portal home page. The page is headed Work Orders, with The moves assigned to you under it.
Find a work order
Section titled “Find a work order”The list opens on your open work orders.
- Type part of a container number or load reference in Container/Load, or part of a job reference in Transport Document.
- In Status, choose Open or All.
- Select Search, or press Enter in one of the boxes.
| Filter | Finds |
|---|---|
| Container/Load | Work orders whose container number, or the reference of a load that is not in a container, contains the text. |
| Transport Document | Work orders whose job reference contains the text. The job reference is the number of the shipment the work order belongs to, such as a bill of lading number. |
| Status | Open: the work orders that are not closed yet. All: open and closed work orders. Cancelled work orders are never listed. |
The number of work orders found appears above the list, for example 48 found. If nothing matches, the page says No Work Orders Found and suggests showing all work orders, not just open ones.
Clear empties the boxes, sets Status back to Open and searches again. The page does not keep your filters: when you come back to the list from a work order, it opens on your open work orders again.
The company can also limit the work orders you see with filters of its own for your account.
The list
Section titled “The list”The list shows 25 work orders per page, newest first. Select a row to open the work order.
- When there is more than one page, Previous and Next below the list move between pages, and Page 2 of 5, for example, shows where you are.
- Where a column heading is a link, select it to sort the list by that column, and select it again to reverse the order. An arrow marks the column the list is sorted by. Sorting takes you back to the first page. Which columns can be sorted depends on how the company has set up the list.
Columns
Section titled “Columns”The company chooses the columns, so your list may have other columns, or other names for them, than those below. You cannot change them yourself. Columns about the customer or other parties of the shipment, such as the customer or the carrier, are never shown on this page.
The columns usually are:
| Column | Shows |
|---|---|
| ID | The work order ID: the number TrakIT gives each work order. |
| Workflow | The workflow: the kind of operation the work order belongs to, as the company has set it up. |
| Job reference, for example Transport Document | The job reference of the shipment. The heading uses the company’s name for it. |
| Container | The container number. |
| Size | The container size. |
| Weight | The weight. |
| Status | The latest event of the work order that the company shows to its customers, under the name it gives them, as a coloured label. An event is a step of the move, such as a gate-out or a delivery, recorded with its date and time. Empty until there is such an event. |
The company can also show the load reference, load type, seal number, volume, commodity, the transporter and return transporter, when that latest event happened, when the work order was created, and the dates of chosen events that the company shows to its customers. Dates and times are in the time zone set for your account.
Who can use this page
Section titled “Who can use this page”Work Orders appears in the portal menu when both of these are true:
- your portal role has Read in the Transporter Work Orders section;
- you are linked to at least one entity as a Transporter.
| Section | Permission | Allows you to |
|---|---|---|
| Transporter Work Orders | Read | Open the page and the Open Work Orders box, and see the work orders where an entity you are linked to as a transporter is the transporter or the return transporter. |
The company sets your portal role and your entity links. For what each permission allows, see Transporter Work Orders; for how the company sets up your access, see Setting up the external portal.
