Error messages

When TrakIT cannot show you what you asked for, it shows an error screen instead of the page. The screen’s title says what went wrong. Find the title below to see what it means and what to do.

When you contact your administrators or TrakIT Support about an error, say what you were doing, which page you were on, and when it happened. To see who your administrators are, select System > Contact Admins.

These screens show a title, a short explanation and, below it in red, sometimes a detail, such as the action you are not allowed or the record that was not found. Opened from a popup, the screen shows inside the popup.

Title What it means What to do
Authorization Failed Your roles do not allow the page, or the action you asked for. External users see it when they open a page of the internal application. The detail Page not authorised for this instance means the page is not set up for your TrakIT installation at all. If you need the page, ask your administrators to give one of your roles the permission: see Roles and permissions. A page not set up for your installation can only be added by TrakIT Support.
Permission Denied The page is for TrakIT Support only. Nothing: the page is not meant for users.
Invalid Resource The record the page should show does not exist: it was deleted, or the link or bookmark you followed is wrong or out of date. Find the record again, for example with Quick Search. If a link inside TrakIT brought you here, tell your administrators.
Invalid Request The page cannot be opened on its own: it needs details that were not given, for example when you open a popup’s address directly or from a bookmark. Open the page from its menu, or from the page that opens it.
Configuration Invalid or Missing Something the page needs is not set up. For example, No default yard found appears when a yard move is opened in the mobile app before you have chosen a yard there. Choose what the detail asks for, if you can. Otherwise ask your administrators, who may need TrakIT Support.
DB Connection Failed TrakIT cannot reach its database. Select Try Re-connecting. If the screen comes back, contact TrakIT Support.
Non-supported Browser TrakIT does not recognize your browser, or it is too old. Use an up-to-date browser: see Browser support.
User Not Authorized Your user profile does not exist in TrakIT. Select Request Access, or see Request access.

In the mobile app, the same titles and explanations show inside the app, with two buttons: Back returns to the page you came from, and Home opens the app’s home page. This applies to Authorization Failed, Permission Denied, Invalid Resource, Invalid Request and Configuration Invalid or Missing; the other screens look the same as in a web browser.

Page Not Found means the address does not lead to a TrakIT page or file: it was mistyped, a bookmark is out of date, or a link is broken. TrakIT records the address so that broken links can be found.

  • In a web browser, select Open TrakIT Default Page to return to your start page.
  • In the mobile app, select Back or Home.

If a link inside TrakIT brought you here, tell TrakIT Support which page the link was on.

Application Error means something unexpected went wrong while TrakIT handled your request. TrakIT records the error, with the page and the time, for TrakIT Support to look into.

  1. Go back to the page and try again: many errors do not come back.
  2. If the error happens again when you do the same thing, contact your administrators or TrakIT Support. Say what you were doing, on which page, and the time.

TrakIT is currently offline means your TrakIT installation has been taken offline for all users. Nobody can sign in or use it until it is brought back online, which only TrakIT Support can do.

  • Select Try again to check whether TrakIT is back.
  • Select Contact TrakIT Support to write to them.
