Cargo ops

The Cargo Ops screen of the mobile app records work done on a container and its cargo in the yard: stuffing it, stripping it, inspecting, weighing or cleaning it, changing its direction, or confirming its seal. TrakIT links the move to the container’s work order, and you can add the seal number, photos and the work order’s details as you work.

To open it, on Yard operations, open the Cargo tab and:

  • select Add Move to record new work, or
  • select a planned cargo move to complete it or carry it out.

The screen shows the yard’s name next to its title, for example Cargo Ops - Main Yard. New moves are made in the yard you chose on Yard Operations. The arrow icon (Back), with the buttons at the top right, returns to Yard Operations without saving. For what each kind of work needs and changes in a yard’s work, see also Running a yard.

  1. Choose the Move Type: see Move types.
  2. For a Status Change, choose the new Direction.
  3. Choose the Container. The list offers the containers in the yard that the move type allows, with their length or type code, for example ABCU1234560 - 40.
  4. Check the Work Order Information: see Work Order Information.
  5. Enter or scan the Seal No.(s).
  6. Check the Zone, and fill in the other fields you need: see the table below.
  7. Add photos and Remarks if useful.
  8. Select Execute to carry out the move, or Save to keep it as a planned move. See Save or execute.

The fields after Container appear once a container is chosen. Choosing another move type or direction clears the container. Once a move is saved, its move type, direction and container cannot be changed.

When you choose the container, TrakIT checks it:

  • A blocked container cannot be chosen: TrakIT says Container Blocked and why.
  • If the container already has a planned move of the same type in this yard, TrakIT says Move Exists: open that move from the Cargo tab instead.
  • The container needs a move carried out in this yard. TrakIT takes its full or empty status and its direction from that move.
  • On a new move, TrakIT fills in Seal No.(s) with the seal of the container’s last move: check it. It does not for Stuffing, Stripping, Stuff Partial and Strip Partial.
Field What to enter
Move Type * The kind of work. Required.
Direction Status Change only: the new direction, Import, Export or Other. Required. TrakIT does not save it for an empty container.
Container The container or truck. On a saved move, the copy icon (Copy Container) next to the label copies its number.
Seal No.(s) The seal number, up to 100 characters. Marked with a star for Stuffing and Seal Confirmation. See Move types for when it is needed. The camera icon next to it scans the seal’s barcode.
Zone The zone of the yard where the container is after the work. On a new move, the list starts at the first zone, not at the container’s current zone: check it. Not shown for Seal Confirmation, where the container stays in its zone.
Reference A reference for the work, up to 100 characters.
Grade Status Change and Cleaning only: Grade A, Grade B or Grade C.
Dirty Cleaning only: Unspecified, Sweep Required, HP Water Wash Required or Chemical Wash Required.
Data fields The extra fields your company has set up for all yard move types, if any: see Data fields. Computed fields are worked out by TrakIT and cannot be changed.
Photos See Photos. Marked with a star for Seal Confirmation.
Remarks Any notes about the work.
Move type Container list offers Needed to execute When it is carried out
Inspection Full containers A linked work order, and a seal number.
Stuffing All containers in the yard. A full one is accepted only if its last move was a Stuff Partial. A linked work order, and a seal number. The container becomes full. The seal is copied to the work order.
Stripping Full containers A linked work order. The container becomes empty, without a direction.
Status Change All containers in the yard The Direction. A seal number for a full container. The container takes the new direction and the grade chosen.
Weighing Full containers A seal number.
Strip Partial All containers in the yard A linked work order.
Stuff Partial All containers in the yard A linked work order. The container becomes full.
Cleaning Empty containers The container takes the grade and dirt status chosen.
Seal Confirmation All containers in the yard A seal number, and at least one photo. The seal is copied to the work order.

A seal number is not needed for trucks and trailers. On a Status Change, the grade can stay the same or get worse, for example from Grade A to Grade B, but not better, and it cannot be cleared once the container has one: choose the grade each time.

When you choose the container, TrakIT links the move to the container’s matching work order, found the same way as at the gate: see Running a yard. On a Status Change, the work order must fit the new direction. A Seal Confirmation keeps the work order of the container’s last move instead.

The Work Order Information box is green when a work order is linked. It shows:

Field Shows
ID The work order’s ID. Select it to open the work order in a new window.
Workflow, Created The work order’s workflow, and the date it was created.
Job reference The job reference. The label is your company’s short name for it, for example T/D.
Carrier The work order’s carrier, if it has one. The label is your company’s name for this entity type.

Under them are the work order’s header fields. You can fill them in as you work: they are saved on the work order when you save or carry out the move, if your role can update events and data, the work order is not closed or cancelled, and the move is not carried out yet.

The box is yellow, with No matching Work Order found, when no work order matches. Stripping, Stuffing, Strip Partial, Stuff Partial and Inspection cannot be carried out without one: save the move, link the work order on a computer (see Link or unlink a work order), then carry it out.

The camera icon next to Seal No.(s) reads a barcode or QR code on the seal with your device’s camera, until the move is carried out.

  1. Select the camera icon next to Seal No.(s).
  2. If your browser asks, allow the camera.
  3. In Scan Barcode, point the back camera at the barcode.

When the code is read, the window closes and the code replaces what was in Seal No.(s). Your phone may vibrate. To close the window without scanning, select the cross, or the area around it. The scanner reads QR codes and the common barcode types, such as Code 128, Code 39, EAN, UPC and ITF. If the camera cannot start, TrakIT says Unable to access camera. and why: see Scan a seal barcode on Gate in.

Once a container is chosen, you can add photos under Photos until the move is carried out: with the camera tile or the gallery tile, or with the camera and gallery icons at the right of the tabs. How to take photos, add them from your gallery or files, and remove them is described in Photos on a move.

  • The photos you add stay while you fill in the rest of the move, and are saved when you select Save or Execute. If you leave the screen with the Back arrow, they are lost.
  • Photos already saved with the move are shown under the tiles.
  • A Seal Confirmation can be carried out only with at least one photo, added now or saved earlier with the move: otherwise TrakIT says At least one photo of the seal is required.
  • To add or delete photos after the move is carried out, use the move’s Photos tab on a computer.
  • Save keeps the move as planned. The screen reloads with the saved move and TrakIT says Move saved successfully. Planned moves are listed on the Cargo tab of Yard Operations and on Yard planning.
  • Execute carries out the move. TrakIT returns to Yard Operations and says Move executed successfully. If yard forms are set up to be generated automatically for this move type, the screen instead shows the move’s Files tab with the new documents, and opens the newest one for printing.

When the move is carried out:

  • The container takes its new status, as in the Move types table. TrakIT carries its damage over from its last move, and its grade and dirt status too, unless you chose them.
  • The container is recorded in the zone chosen (on a Seal Confirmation, its current zone), and taken out of its stack position, if it has one. If the yard applies stacking rules and another container is on top of it, TrakIT says Cannot remove container under another.
  • On the linked work order, TrakIT fills the yard move trigger event for this move type, if the workflow has one (see Warehouses & Yards tab), and copies the move’s data fields set up to do so.

Once the move is carried out, the screen shows it read-only, with its move ID, when it was carried out and by whom, for example Move ID: 1234; Executed 14:05, 30 Oct 2026 by Sam Lee. A move cancelled afterwards on a computer also shows, in red, who cancelled it and when. To correct or cancel an executed move, use the Yard move page on a computer.

The Files tab lists the documents of the move, generated from your company’s yard forms. It opens once the move is saved: on a new move, TrakIT says Save Required with Please save the move before switching to the Files tab.

To generate a document:

  1. Choose the form in Forms. The list offers the yard forms set up for this move type in this yard (see Form definitions); if there is only one, it is chosen already.
  2. Select Generate.

The document is added to the list as a PDF. Without a form chosen, TrakIT says Please select Form. You can generate documents on planned and executed moves.

The list shows 10 files per page. Select the download icon (Download Document) to save a file, the magnifying glass (Preview Document) to open it, or the printer icon (Print) to print a PDF file or a picture. Title and Uploaded By show its title, and who added it and when; a wider screen also shows the File Name, Type, Status, Expiry and File Size. You cannot add or delete files here: use the Files tab of the Yard move page on a computer.

  1. Open the planned move.
  2. Select the bin icon (Delete) at the top right.
  3. Confirm when asked Are you sure you want to delete this move?

TrakIT deletes the move and returns to Yard Operations. An executed move cannot be deleted here: see Delete a move.
