Browser support

TrakIT runs in your web browser: there is nothing to install on your computer. Use a current version of one of these browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari

TrakIT relies on features of modern browsers, so keep your browser up to date.

TrakIT does not work in Internet Explorer, or in Microsoft Edge when Edge opens a site in Internet Explorer mode. If your company’s computers open TrakIT in Internet Explorer mode, ask your IT team to open it in Edge’s normal mode instead.

If TrakIT shows a Non-supported Browser page, open TrakIT in one of the browsers above.

Allow these for your TrakIT site in your browser’s settings:

Setting Why TrakIT needs it
JavaScript TrakIT does not work without it. If TrakIT shows the message “TrakIT was not able to load required Javascript files”, its scripts did not load: check that no browser extension, security software or network filter blocks your TrakIT site.
Cookies A cookie keeps you signed in while you work. If you select Keep me signed in when you sign in, another cookie lets you sign in on that browser without your password for 30 days.
Pop-ups TrakIT opens some pages in a new tab or window, such as reports, document previews, the help, TrakIT Chat, and the Sign in with Microsoft and Sign in with Google windows.

Browsers usually allow a window that opens when you select something. A pop-up blocker can still stop a window that TrakIT opens once it has finished a task. For example, when you create a job, TrakIT opens its first work order in a new tab. If your browser blocks it, the job is still created and TrakIT shows the Jobs page, where you can open it.

Some features depend on what your browser and device can do. The first time you use the camera or the microphone, your browser asks for your permission. If you refused it, allow the camera or microphone for your TrakIT site in your browser’s site settings, then try again.

Feature What it needs
Sign in with Passkey, and Register Passkey on the Passkeys page A browser and device that support passkeys. Sign in with Passkey appears only if your company lets you sign in with a passkey, and only in a browser that supports passkeys.
Take Photo, for example on a work order, also in the mobile app The camera. The button appears only when your browser can use a camera.
Scanning seal numbers into Seal No.(s) on yard moves in the mobile app, for example on a gate-in The camera.
Adding photos from your gallery or files, for example on yard moves in the mobile app A photo your browser can open, such as a JPEG or PNG. Some Android phones save photos in the HEIC format, which the browser may not be able to open.
Recording a spoken comment with the microphone button in Comments The microphone.
Copy icons The clipboard. If TrakIT shows Not Copied, your browser did not allow it: select the text and copy it yourself.
Share icons, for example on a job, work order or invoice If your browser has a share menu, as most phones do, the icon opens it. Otherwise it copies the link.
Maps, and address suggestions in location fields Google Maps, which your browser loads from Google. If your network blocks Google Maps, maps and address suggestions do not appear.
TrakIT Chat Opens in its own window. TrakIT does not use your browser’s notifications: new messages show on the chat bar and as a New Messages notice in the TrakIT window you are using. The chat window can also play a sound when a message arrives.

Sign in with Microsoft and Sign in with Google appear only if your company uses them. They open Microsoft’s or Google’s sign-in window, so your network must allow those sites.

When you sign in on a phone, TrakIT opens its mobile app: a version of TrakIT made for small screens, which also runs in your browser. It opens only if your user account may use the mobile app. The mobile app needs an internet connection; it does not work offline.

The desktop pages also work in a narrow window. When the window is 900 pixels wide or less, the main menu folds away behind the menu icon at the left of the top bar, and the footer links are hidden. See Navigating TrakIT.

To add TrakIT to your phone’s home screen:

  1. Open TrakIT in your phone’s browser and sign in.
  2. Select the person icon at the top right of the mobile app.
  3. Select Install App.
  4. Follow the steps your phone shows.

TrakIT then opens from its icon on your home screen, without the browser’s address bar.

Install App appears when your browser can install TrakIT, and on an iPhone, where it shows the steps to follow in Safari: select the Share icon in Safari’s toolbar, then Add to Home Screen, then Add. When you open TrakIT from its icon, Install App does not appear.

When you sign in, TrakIT compares your device’s time zone with the one on your user record, and offers to change your TrakIT time zone if they differ. Keep your device’s time zone correct. See Navigating TrakIT.
