Device app
Yards > Device App opens the yard screens of the TrakIT mobile app. They are made for the phones and tablets your staff carry at the gate and in the yard, to plan and record each move as it happens. In the mobile app itself, the same screens are under Yard Ops in the menu. For a yard’s work from start to finish, from planning the moves to the gate-out, see Running a yard.
The first screen, Yard Operations, lists the moves of one yard. If you have access to more than one container yard, choose the yard at the top. The moves are on four tabs:
| Tab | Shows |
|---|---|
| Gate | Planned Gate-In and Gate-Out moves: containers coming into the yard or leaving it, by truck or by rail. Truck In, Truck Out and Rail In/Out start a new gate move. |
| Equipment | Planned moves of containers inside the yard, such as In-Stack, On-Truck, To Customs, For Repair, To CFS and Reposition. Add Move starts a new one. |
| Cargo | Planned work on containers and their cargo, such as Stuffing, Stripping, Cargo Inspection, Weighing, Cleaning, reefer plugging and Seal Confirmation. Add Move starts a new one. |
| History | Moves already carried out. |
Select a move to open it, then save it as planned or carry it out. On the desktop, planned moves are listed on the Yard planning page, and moves carried out on the Yard moves page. Trucks that come in through the gate are listed on the Yard trucks page, with the time they leave.
Photos on a move
Section titled “Photos on a move”On Gate-In, Gate-Out and Cargo moves, you can add photos under Photos until the move is carried out:
- To take a photo with your device’s camera, select the camera tile, or the camera icon at the right of the tabs, then Take photo. Do this for each photo.
- To add photos that are already on your device, select the gallery tile next to the camera tile, or the gallery icon next to the camera icon, then choose one or more photos from your gallery or files.
Each photo shows under Photos; select its cross icon to remove it. The photos are saved with the
move when you save it or carry it out. Photos from the camera are titled Img and the date, such
as Img20261030-01, and photos from the gallery or files Upl and the date, such as
Upl20261030-02, so you can tell them apart.
TrakIT reduces a photo from the gallery or files to the size of a camera photo before adding it. If it cannot open a file, it says Unable to read with the file name: choose a JPEG or PNG photo instead. Some Android phones save photos in the HEIC format, which the browser may not be able to open.
If a photo cannot be saved, for example one less than 100 pixels high, TrakIT still saves the move. Its Move saved successfully or Move executed successfully message then shows as a warning that says how many photos could not be saved, and why.
A Seal Confirmation can be carried out only with at least one photo of the seal, from the camera or from the gallery.
Who can use the device app
Section titled “Who can use the device app”Your role needs these permissions in the Yard Moves section, and you need access to at least one container yard: otherwise the app says No Yards Accessible / Found.
| Permission | Allows you to |
|---|---|
| Read | Open the device app and see the moves. |
| Plan Moves | Save a move as planned, together with Create or Update. |
| Execute Moves | Carry out a move, together with Create or Update. |
| Gate Operations, Equipment Moves, Cargo Operations | Choose the move types of the Gate, Equipment and Cargo tabs. |
A move opens only if it is in a yard of one of your companies. A move in another company’s yard, for example from an old link, shows Authorization Failed with The move is not in one of your yards. If you no longer have access to the yard you last chose, new moves show The yard is not one of your yards: open Yard Operations again, and it switches to one of your yards.
